Spelangel, I hope this basic comment is not published twice. I'm sorry if it is. I tried to publish an earlier version a moment ago.
Anyway . . .
I think most people want to feel like that. I know I do. It is a warm security blanket around you all the time.
But there is a danger . . . and a real danger, at that. You can become lost in another person and develop a co-dependent relationship that is unhealthy for both parties. One should never, ever get married, for example, keeping an eye out for one of the Big Ds -- death or divorce. But they are real. If you wrap all of one's happiness in another person, then you run the real risk of being physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally devastated when they are gone. One should always be able to find some happiness when one's partner is around and when they are not. The relationship would be better, stronger and healthier. That having been said, I will be a crushed, wasted man if one of the Big Ds occurs in my life. mbd
